Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

What does it mean?

B1347 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: DAB Circuit Resistance Is Low .

Symptoms

  • Airbag warning lamp stays on from key-on
  • Driver airbag deactivated, correct deployment cannot be guaranteed
  • Horn or steering wheel switches may also misbehave
  • The fault repeats immediately after clearing
  • The vehicle otherwise drives completely normally

Likely causes

  • Partial short between the two squib wires, usually inside the clockspring
  • Clockspring ribbon crushed or chafed because of incorrect installation
  • Airbag connector terminals bridged by corrosion or debris
  • Internal fault in the driver airbag inflator circuit
  • Wiring pinched during steering wheel or column shroud reassembly
  • Moisture in the connector after a leaking windscreen or door seal
  • Restraint control module fault

How to fix it

  1. Disconnect the battery and observe the specified waiting period before touching the airbag
  2. Remove the driver airbag and inspect both the airbag connector and the clockspring connector for corrosion and debris
  3. Verify the clockspring is properly centred and that its ribbon is not pinched under the shroud
  4. Use the correct airbag simulator or load tool to establish whether the low resistance is in the airbag or in the circuit
  5. Check the restraint module connector for bridged or bent pins
  6. Replace the clockspring when the low resistance follows the wiring side
  7. Replace the driver airbag module when the low resistance follows the airbag, then clear codes and confirm the self-test passes
