What does it mean?
B1379 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: DSAB Circuit Resistance Too Low .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on and the driver side airbag disabled
- Code returns immediately after clearing while the short is present
- The fault often follows seat, carpet, sill trim or pillar trim work
- Other driver side restraint codes may be stored at the same time
- No effect on engine operation or driveability
Likely causes
- Loom crushed under the driver seat or behind the driver side trim, letting the two squib wires touch
- Water or a spill in the connector for the driver side or curtain airbag, bridging the pins
- Connector lock not pushed fully home, leaving the shorting bar partly across the squib terminals
- Internal short in the driver side airbag inflator
- Wrong airbag module fitted, with a squib resistance the control module does not recognise
- Terminals spread after repeated disconnection of the seat or pillar connector
- Airbag control module measuring circuit fault
How to fix it
- Read all restraint codes and note which ones are current, since a group of them points at shared wiring
- Power down safely, disconnect the battery and wait the reserve power discharge time
- Unplug the airbag connector and inspect the terminals, the shorting bar and the connector lock for damage and moisture
- Fit an approved load simulator in place of the airbag and clear the code; if the fault goes, the airbag module is at fault
- If the code stays with the simulator fitted, test the harness between the module and the airbag for a wire-to-wire short
- Inspect the loom route under the seat and behind the sill and pillar trim for crush points and trapped sections
- Repair with approved restraint parts, then clear and verify that the lamp goes out after the bulb check
