What does it mean?
B1472 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Channel 4 Audio Speaker Output Circuit Open .
Symptoms
- The channel 4 speaker is completely silent while other positions play
- Fader or balance no longer brings sound to that part of the cabin
- Sound may return briefly when the trim or door is moved if a broken strand touches
- The system sounds unbalanced, and rear fill or bass may be noticeably missing
- Code returns after every ignition cycle
Likely causes
- Speaker connector unplugged or half seated after trim, seat or rear panel work
- Broken conductor where the harness flexes, such as a door jamb boot or a tailgate hinge area
- Open voice coil after long-term overdriving, age or corrosion
- Corroded terminal that no longer contacts the speaker tab
- Terminal pushed out of the amplifier or head unit connector
- Channel not connected at all after a non-standard audio installation
- Amplifier output stage failed open on channel 4
How to fix it
- Use fader and balance to identify the silent speaker position
- Remove the trim and confirm that the connector is fully latched and the terminals grip the speaker tabs
- Measure the speaker at its own terminals; an infinite reading means the coil is open
- Check continuity of each output wire between the amplifier and the speaker connector to find a break
- Flex the harness at every bend point while measuring, since breaks form where the loom moves
- Inspect the amplifier connector for a backed-out terminal and reseat it correctly
- Repair the wire with a soldered or correctly crimped joint and protect it where it flexes
- Replace the speaker if the coil is open, then clear the code and verify with a fader sweep
