What does it mean?
B1475 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Channel 5 Audio Speaker Output Circuit Low .
Symptoms
- Little or no sound from the channel 5 speaker
- The amplifier may mute that channel or the whole system for self-protection
- The soundstage shifts because one position has dropped out
- Amplifier housing runs hot; a hard short can leave a burnt smell
- Code returns immediately after being cleared
Likely causes
- Output wire shorted to ground against body metal, a trim bracket or a seat frame
- Wire pinched by a clip or screw during panel, seat or accessory work
- Partially shorted voice coil in a speaker that has been overdriven
- Low-impedance aftermarket speaker fitted where the channel expects a higher load
- Water in the connector or in the loom creating a leakage path to ground
- Amplifier output stage shorted internally on channel 5
How to fix it
- Confirm the silent position with the fader and balance controls
- Unplug the speaker and measure from each output wire to clean chassis ground at the amplifier connector; a low reading with the speaker removed proves a harness short
- If the harness reads open to ground, measure the speaker; a value far under the specified impedance means a shorted coil
- Remove trim and follow the wire for pinch points, screws, staples and chafe on sharp metal
- Inspect connectors and surrounding trim for water intrusion and corrosion
- Repair or replace the damaged wire, insulate it and route it away from fasteners and moving parts
- Fit a speaker of the correct impedance if a non-standard unit was installed
- Clear the code and confirm the channel plays cleanly at normal volume
