What does it mean?
B1480 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Channel 7 Audio Speaker Output Circuit High .
Symptoms
- No sound from the channel 7 speaker, or a continuous hum or buzz
- The amplifier keeps the channel switched off until the fault is fixed
- A fuse on the circuit feeding the speaker line may blow if the contact is solid
- Fault typically follows audio, trim or seat installation work
- Code sets again every time the audio system is switched on
Likely causes
- Speaker wire chafed against a powered circuit sharing the same loom
- Power wire joined to a speaker lead during an aftermarket audio installation
- Open on one of the two output leads, leaving the line floating high
- Corroded terminal or a poor splice lifting the measured level
- Moisture bridging the speaker pin to a live pin in a shared connector
- Amplifier output stage failed and holding channel 7 high
How to fix it
- Identify the physical speaker for the channel with fader and balance
- Disconnect the amplifier connector and the speaker, then check both output wires for voltage with the ignition on; there should be none
- Note whether that voltage is permanent or ignition-switched to identify the feeding circuit
- Remove trim along the route and look for melted insulation, chafe against a live wire and non-factory splices
- Check both wires for end-to-end continuity so an open leg is not mistaken for a short to power
- Remove aftermarket taps, repair the damaged section and re-route it clear of powered wiring
- Test with a known-good speaker at the amplifier before condemning the amplifier
- Clear the code, cycle the ignition and verify normal sound from that position
