What does it mean?
B1719 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Seat Driver Forward Switch Circuit Short to Battery .
Symptoms
- The seat slides forward by itself or drives to the forward stop and stalls there
- Forward travel unavailable while rearward, tilt and recline still respond
- Motor thermal cut-out trips and the seat stops responding for a while
- Memory positions cannot be recalled or stored
- Code returns as soon as it is cleared, sometimes only after the seat is moved
Likely causes
- Contaminated switch pack where a drink spill has bridged the forward contact to the supply
- Worn or welded contact inside the slide rocker that stays closed
- Forward-signal wire pinched between the seat rail and the floor pan, cutting into a powered wire
- Corroded under-seat connector after carpet shampooing or a leaking door or windscreen seal
- Damage to the seat loom caused by objects pushed under the seat and dragged by the rails
- Seat or memory module output stage failure
How to fix it
- Retrieve the codes and watch the forward switch state live with nobody touching the switch
- Run the seat through its full travel while wiggling the loom, watching for the input to flick high
- Disconnect the switch pack and see whether the input drops back to its rest state
- Measure the forward signal wire for voltage with the switch unplugged to confirm the short
- Inspect the loom along the rail, at the floor pan clips and inside the under-seat connector for chafe and corrosion
- Replace the switch pack or repair the shorted harness section as found
- Replace the seat control module last, once the circuit has been proven clean
