B-pillar Power Sliding Door Open/Close Switch Input Ckt Short to Gnd

Severity

Medium

Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Read the switch state in live data with nobody touching the switch; a permanently active reading confirms a grounded input

What does it mean?

B2365 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver Seat Rear Vertical Position Sensor Circuit .

Symptoms

  • The power sliding door opens or closes by itself, or starts moving as soon as the ignition is switched on
  • The B-pillar switch has no effect while interior and key fob commands still work
  • Power sliding door operation is disabled entirely and the door must be moved by hand
  • A warning chime or a door ajar indication that will not go out
  • The fault shows up after rain or a trip through a car wash

Likely causes

  • Switch signal wire chafed against the B-pillar sheet metal or the striker area
  • Water entering the exterior switch through a failed seal and bridging the contacts to ground
  • Switch contacts stuck or welded closed internally
  • Loom crushed where it runs behind the B-pillar trim or under the sill plate
  • Corroded connector at the sliding door module with a conductive bridge between the signal and ground pins
  • Wire pinched under a bracket or bolt during previous trim removal
  • Failed input stage inside the power sliding door control module

How to fix it

  1. Read the switch state in live data with nobody touching the switch; a permanently active reading confirms a grounded input
  2. Unplug the B-pillar switch and read the state again, if it returns to normal the switch or its seal is at fault
  3. With the switch disconnected, measure resistance from the signal wire to ground to prove whether the short is in the harness
  4. Inspect the loom where it crosses the B-pillar and the sill for chafe marks and pinch points
  5. Open and dry the switch connector and check for corrosion tracking between adjacent pins
  6. Repair the damaged wiring with a properly sealed joint and reroute it away from sharp edges
  7. If the input remains grounded with both the switch and the harness disconnected at the module, the module itself is faulty
