First step

Identify from the freeze frame and the manufacturer data which stalk function the module is complaining about

  • BBody
  • 2Manufacturer-specific
  • 3Body
  • 68Sequence number

What does it mean?

B2368 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Window Washer Motor 1 Control Circuit Low .

Symptoms

  • Indicator, wiper, headlamp or cruise control functions from the stalks work erratically or not at all
  • The wrong function operates, for example wipers running when the lighting stalk is moved
  • Stalk functions cut out over bumps or when the steering wheel is turned
  • Some stalk positions work perfectly while others are completely dead
  • A warning lamp on the cluster for whichever system the stalk controls

Likely causes

  • Worn or contaminated contacts inside the multifunction column switch, giving a value between two defined steps
  • Damaged clockspring or column loom after steering wheel, airbag or column work
  • High resistance in the column connector caused by fretting corrosion
  • Water running down the column from a leaking windscreen seal or a soaked footwell
  • Signal wire partly shorted to another circuit in the same loom, shifting the measured value
  • Incorrect or non matching column switch fitted during a previous repair
  • Faulty reference or input stage inside the body control module

How to fix it

  1. Identify from the freeze frame and the manufacturer data which stalk function the module is complaining about
  2. Watch the column switch value in live data while stepping each stalk through every position and note where the value leaves its range
  3. Unplug the switch and measure resistance across the signal and return pins in each position, comparing with the specified table
  4. Check the connector and the clockspring pigtail for corrosion, distorted pins and chafing under the column shrouds
  5. Look for water tracking down the steering column, which is a frequent cause on this circuit
  6. Replace the multifunction switch with the correct part number when its resistance steps are out of specification
  7. Verify module power and ground quality before considering a body control module replacement
