What does it mean?
B2416 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: KOS-ECU Internal Error .
Symptoms
- The recirculation button has no effect, with the system stuck on fresh air or stuck on recirculation
- Clicking or knocking from behind the dash when the ignition is switched on or the mode is changed
- Windows mist up because fresh air cannot be selected
- Air conditioning cools poorly in hot weather because recirculation is unavailable
- Automatic climate control ignores its normal recirculation strategy
Likely causes
- Recirculation flap jammed by leaves or debris drawn in through the fresh air intake
- Broken flap linkage or a stripped gear inside the actuator
- Actuator motor stalling or drawing incorrect current before it reaches its stop
- Faulty position feedback potentiometer inside the actuator
- Wiring fault on the actuator drive or feedback circuit, including a chafed loom behind the dash
- Actuator not calibrated after a heater box, actuator or module replacement
- Failed actuator output stage in the climate control module
How to fix it
- Run the climate control self test or actuator test and watch the recirculation feedback move through its full travel
- Listen at the heater box while commanding the actuator to hear whether the motor runs and where it stalls
- Remove the actuator and move the flap by hand to check for a jam or a broken linkage
- Inspect the pollen filter housing and the fresh air intake for debris that blocks the flap
- Measure the actuator supply, drive and feedback signals at the connector during a commanded sweep
- Replace the actuator where its internal gear or feedback track is faulty, and clear any obstruction that is found
- Run the actuator calibration routine after the repair so the module relearns the end stops
