Aux Blower Sense Switch Circuit Failure

Jump to the fix

Severity

Medium

Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

First carry out the window normalisation or initialisation procedure for the vehicle, since a lost learn value alone can set this code

  • BBody
  • 2Manufacturer-specific
  • 5Body
  • 80Sequence number

What does it mean?

B2580 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver Window Position Sensor(S) No Signal .

Symptoms

  • One-touch automatic up and down no longer works on the driver window; the switch must be held
  • Anti-pinch reverses the window part way even with nothing in the opening
  • Window stops before it fully closes or bounces back down at the top
  • Global open and close from the key remote no longer works
  • Window speed feels normal but the automatic functions are gone
  • Fault often returns after the battery has been disconnected

Likely causes

  • Failed hall sensor or a damaged sensor magnet inside the driver window motor
  • Broken wire in the flexible harness that passes through the boot between the door and the body, a high-cycle failure point
  • Water leaking past the door vapour barrier onto the motor or module connector, corroding the pins
  • Window regulator cable slipping or the mechanism binding, so travel no longer matches the pulse count
  • Loss of supply or ground to the position sensor circuit
  • Window not re-normalised after a battery disconnect, module replacement or regulator repair
  • Internal fault in the driver door module that reads the sensor

How to fix it

  1. First carry out the window normalisation or initialisation procedure for the vehicle, since a lost learn value alone can set this code
  2. Watch the window position and pulse count in live data while raising and lowering the glass to see whether pulses appear at all
  3. Pull the door trim and vapour barrier and check the motor connector for water, corrosion and green pins
  4. Flex the harness inside the door boot while monitoring continuity to find broken conductors
  5. Measure supply and ground at the sensor circuit before condemning the motor
  6. Check the regulator for a frayed cable, binding channel or sticky glass runs and repair the mechanism if it drags
  7. Replace the motor with the integrated position sensor if pulses are absent with good power, ground and wiring, then repeat the normalisation
