What does it mean?
B2581 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Passenger Window Position Sensor(s) No Signal .
Symptoms
- Automatic one-touch operation is disabled on the passenger window
- Glass reverses on its own when closing, as the anti-pinch strategy defaults to protection
- Window will not close completely from the driver's master switch
- Convenience closing from the key remote no longer works on that window
- Manual hold-to-run operation still functions, which shows the motor and power are basically fine
- The complaint often begins after wet weather or after work has been done on that door
Likely causes
- Hall sensor inside the passenger window motor no longer producing pulses
- Corroded pins in the passenger door connector after water has run past a torn vapour barrier
- Broken conductor in the door-to-body harness boot on the passenger side
- Window regulator binding or the lift cable slipping, so the glass moves without matching sensor feedback
- Missing supply or ground on the sensor circuit from a corroded splice or module connector
- Position value lost after battery disconnection or door module replacement without re-learning
- Failed passenger door module or a communication fault preventing the value from being reported
How to fix it
- Run the window initialisation procedure first and see whether normal automatic operation returns
- Monitor the passenger window position value in live data while the glass moves to confirm whether it changes
- Remove the door trim and vapour barrier and inspect the motor and module connectors for moisture and corrosion
- Check continuity of the sensor wires through the door boot while flexing the loom
- Verify supply voltage and ground at the sensor circuit before replacing any component
- Inspect the regulator and glass runs for binding, a frayed cable or misaligned glass
- Replace the window motor with its integrated sensor if the circuit is proven good, then repeat the learn procedure
