What does it mean?
P1184 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Supercharger Inlet Pressure (SCIP) Sensor Circuit High Voltage .
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Boost limited and power noticeably reduced
- Hesitation or a flat feel when accelerating
- Unstable idle in some cases
- Engine may run richer than normal, increasing fuel consumption
- The fault can appear intermittently over rough roads if the connector is loose
Likely causes
- Open or high-resistance sensor ground, letting the signal float to the top of its range
- Open signal wire between the sensor and the module
- Short to the 5 volt reference or to battery voltage on the signal circuit
- Sensor connector not fully seated, or a terminal pushed out of the housing
- Corroded pins after water ingress at an exposed connector
- Internal sensor failure holding the output high
- Rarely, a control module input fault
How to fix it
- With the ignition on and the sensor unplugged, verify the 5 volt reference and check the ground circuit with a voltage drop test
- Watch the live value while unplugging the sensor; a reading pinned high with the sensor disconnected points to wiring
- Test the signal wire for a short to reference or battery voltage with both ends disconnected
- Check continuity of the ground and signal wires back to the module pins, wiggling the harness while measuring
- Inspect the connector for pushed-back terminals, corrosion and moisture; reseal or replace terminals as needed
- Repair the wiring fault and secure the harness away from heat and vibration
- Replace the sensor if the circuit measures correctly, then verify the reading matches barometric pressure with the engine off
