What does it mean?
P1309 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Acceleration Sensor Signal Check High .
Symptoms
- MIL (check engine lamp) on with ABS, traction and stability warnings
- Stability control, traction control and any related driver assistance disabled
- Warning lamps appear immediately at key on and never clear
- Live sensor value sits at maximum regardless of vehicle motion
- On some vehicles the transmission or torque strategy is restricted while the fault is stored
Likely causes
- Signal wire shorted to a voltage source or to the sensor reference line
- Open sensor ground, which lets the signal float to the top of its range
- Internally failed sensor producing a full-scale output
- Corroded or damaged connector bridging two pins together
- Harness chafed against a bracket, heat shield or body panel
- Control module input circuit fault, considered only after the wiring is proven
How to fix it
- Read the live value and confirm it is pinned at the top of the scale rather than tracking the vehicle
- Unplug the sensor: if the signal stays high, the fault is in the harness or the module side
- Measure the sensor ground with a voltage drop test back to its ground point
- Check the signal wire for a short to the reference line or to a battery feed
- Inspect the connector for bent, corroded or bridged terminals and for water ingress
- Repair the wiring, or replace the sensor if the circuit and ground are proven good
- Calibrate the sensor zero point, clear the codes and confirm the warnings do not return on a road test
