What does it mean?
P1319 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Spark Plug Detection Module Reset Circuit Fault (Bank 1) .
Symptoms
- MIL (check engine lamp) on
- Bank 1 misfire codes stored at the same time
- Rough running and hesitation, worse under load
- The code resets soon after clearing
- Ignition monitor stays incomplete on the scan tool
Likely causes
- Break or short in the reset wire between the engine control module and the Bank 1 detection module
- Corroded, bent or backed-out pins in the module connector
- High-resistance ground at the detection module
- Detection module failed internally and no longer accepts the reset
- Intermittent supply voltage from a corroded fuse holder, damaged feed wire or a weak battery
- Engine control module driver fault, only after everything else is verified
How to fix it
- Read the freeze frame and check which other ignition codes are present
- Check the reset wire end to end for continuity and for shorts to ground or battery
- Measure the module's supply voltage while cranking, not just with the key on
- Voltage drop test the module ground back to its ground point
- Wiggle-test the connector and harness while monitoring the code status
- Repair the wiring, or replace the detection module if the circuit is proven good
- Clear the code, complete a drive cycle and confirm the fault does not return
