What does it mean?
P1327 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Knock Sensor 2 Signal Low Input .
Symptoms
- MIL (check engine lamp) on
- Timing retarded as a default strategy, with reduced power and slow throttle response
- Increased fuel consumption
- Audible knock under load can go uncorrected
- Poor performance when loaded, towing or climbing
Likely causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground or broken along its route
- Knock sensor 2 with a shorted or collapsed internal element
- Mounting bolt loose, over-torqued, or fitted with a washer that should not be there
- Corroded connector or a damaged shield on the sensor lead
- Harness chafing where it runs under the intake manifold, a common failure point on these sensors
- Coolant or oil in the sensor recess corroding the terminals
How to fix it
- Read the knock sensor live values and tap the block near sensor 2 to see whether the channel responds
- Inspect the connector and the shielded lead for corrosion, chafe damage and broken shield continuity
- Measure the sensor's resistance and compare it with specification
- With the sensor unplugged, check the signal wire for a short to ground
- Confirm the sensor face and the block seat are clean and the bolt is torqued exactly to specification
- Replace the sensor if it is out of specification, or repair the shorted wiring
- Clear codes and check on a road test that timing advance returns to normal
