What does it mean?
P1411 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler Bypass Valve Control Circuit 2 Low Voltage .
Symptoms
- MIL on
- Longer warm-up time and weak cabin heating in cold weather
- Higher exhaust emissions, black smoke on diesel engines
- Reduced power or limp mode in some cases
- Rough running while the engine is cold
- Particulate filter regeneration problems on diesel engines
Likely causes
- Open circuit or short to ground in the bypass valve control circuit 2
- Failed bypass valve actuator or solenoid winding
- Corroded, wet or heat damaged connector at the actuator
- Missing supply voltage: blown fuse or a faulty relay
- Soot and carbon seizing the bypass flap and overloading the actuator
- Damaged driver output inside the control module
- Harness chafed against hot exhaust or engine components
How to fix it
- Read the freeze frame and note engine temperature and load when the fault was recorded
- Command the bypass valve with a scan tool and watch the position feedback or listen for movement
- Measure the actuator winding resistance and check for a short to ground
- Verify supply voltage and the module side control at the actuator connector
- Inspect the connector and harness for heat damage, corrosion and chafing
- Remove and inspect the bypass flap for soot build-up and confirm it moves freely
- Repair the wiring or replace the actuator or valve assembly, then verify operation across a full warm-up cycle
