What does it mean?
P1519 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Idle Air Control Valve Circuit Malfunction .
Symptoms
- Check engine light on with idle problems in the freeze frame
- Idle too high, too low or oscillating up and down
- Stalling when coming to a stop or when the clutch is pressed
- Engine needs several attempts to start when cold
- Idle does not rise when the A/C or electrical loads are switched on
- Slight stumble when the throttle is just cracked open
Likely causes
- Stepper motor or solenoid winding in the valve worn, open or out of specification
- Carbon and oil deposits jamming the pintle so it cannot follow the command
- Loose, corroded or partially melted connector at the valve
- Broken or chafed wire in the drive circuit
- Unmetered air entering after the throttle plate through a leaking gasket or hose, pushing the valve to the end of its range
- Missing supply voltage from a fuse or relay fault
- Module driver failure as the least likely cause
How to fix it
- Compare the idle correction value in live data with the normal range for a warm engine
- Remove the valve and check the pintle for free movement; clean the valve, seat and the bypass passage
- Smoke or spray test the intake for unmetered air leaks before condemning the valve
- Measure each winding of the valve and compare against specification
- Check the supply voltage, the drive circuits and the connector terminals with the ignition on
- Replace the idle air control valve if it is seized or out of specification
- Perform the idle relearn and confirm the correction value settles near the middle of its range
