What does it mean?
B1326 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: DFIS Harness Short To Ground .
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp on continuously and the restraint system disabled
- Front airbags and belt pretensioners may not deploy in a collision
- The code returns immediately every time it is cleared
- No effect on engine running or driveability
- Visible corrosion or previous accident damage may be present at the front of the vehicle
Likely causes
- Front impact sensor harness crushed against the body, often after a minor front impact
- Loom chafing against the radiator support, a headlamp bracket or a body seam
- Water and salt corrosion inside the front sensor connector, which sits low at the front of the vehicle
- Wiring damaged during bumper, headlamp or cooling system work
- Internally shorted impact sensor pulling the circuit to ground
- Restraint module connector terminal pushed back or bent onto a ground pin
- Rodent damage in the front harness
How to fix it
- Disconnect the battery and wait the manufacturer specified time before unplugging any restraint connector
- Unplug the driver front impact sensor and measure both harness wires to ground with a multimeter
- Inspect the loom routing across the front of the vehicle for crushing, chafing and pinch points
- Check the sensor connector for moisture, corrosion and a properly latched connector position assurance
- Measure resistance from the restraint module connector through to the sensor connector on both wires
- Repair the harness with the approved restraint circuit repair method, never a twisted splice
- Replace the impact sensor if the short is inside it, then clear codes and confirm the lamp completes its self-test and goes out
