What does it mean?
B1328 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Dash Integration Module Power Circuit High Input .
Symptoms
- Several modules store overvoltage codes at the same time
- Instrument cluster and dash lighting unusually bright, displays flickering
- Bulbs and fuses fail repeatedly
- Battery runs hot or gives off an acidic smell
- Convenience functions controlled by the module behave unpredictably
Likely causes
- Charging system overvoltage caused by a failed alternator voltage regulator
- Incorrect jump start, or a battery charger left connected on a high output setting
- Module fed from an unfused or unregulated source after an accessory installation
- Bad module ground, which raises the apparent supply voltage the module measures
- Faulty battery monitoring or charge control strategy commanding excessive alternator output
- Failure of the module's internal voltage monitoring circuit
- Short between the module supply wire and a higher-current circuit
How to fix it
- Measure charging voltage at the battery at idle and at raised rpm and compare with specification
- Measure the voltage at the module connector and compare it with the reading at the battery
- Check for aftermarket accessories tapped into the module supply and remove improper connections
- Voltage-drop test the module ground, because a poor ground can imitate overvoltage
- Repair the charging system, regulator or alternator when the output exceeds specification
- Verify the battery type and its coding on vehicles that use charge management
- Clear the codes from every module and recheck after a road test
