What does it mean?
B1364 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: DBPT Circuit Short To Power .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on with the driver pretensioner disabled
- Fault may only set when the seat heater or the power seat is used
- Often appears after seat covers, an under-seat amplifier or a seat swap
- Code returns quickly after clearing
- No effect on how the vehicle runs
Likely causes
- Pretensioner wire chafed against a powered seat circuit under the seat, such as a heater feed or a seat motor supply
- Aftermarket seat heater pad, seat cover wiring or under-seat accessory routed through the restraint loom
- Loom flattened where it passes the seat rail, melting insulation between the restraint line and a power wire
- Moisture in the under-seat connector bridging a squib pin to a live pin
- Terminal pushed back in a shared connector body and touching a powered pin
- Internal fault in the pretensioner unit
- Shorted output stage in the airbag control module
How to fix it
- Ask what was fitted or worked on under the seat recently, and note whether the fault follows seat heater or seat motor use
- Power the restraint system down safely and wait the reserve discharge time
- Remove any aftermarket under-seat wiring, heater pads or cover harnesses running alongside the restraint loom
- With both ends of the pretensioner circuit unplugged, switch the ignition on and check the squib wires for voltage
- Operate the seat and the heater during the test to catch a short that only appears with a circuit energised
- Repair the damaged loom section correctly and reroute it clear of the seat rail
- Test the pretensioner with a load simulator before condemning it, and treat the control module as the last suspect
