What does it mean?
B1368 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: PBPT Circuit Resistance Too Low .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on, passenger pretensioner disabled
- Code comes back immediately after clearing when the short is permanent
- Fault frequently appears right after the passenger seat has been removed and refitted
- May behave intermittently as the seat is moved
- Vehicle drives normally
Likely causes
- Loom pinched under the passenger seat rail or trapped when the seat was bolted back down
- Water in the passenger footwell soaking into the under-seat connector and bridging the pins
- Connector lock not fully seated, leaving the shorting bar partly across the squib terminals
- Insulation worn through between the two squib wires where the loom rubs on a bracket
- Internal short in the passenger pretensioner igniter
- Incorrect belt or pretensioner assembly with a lower squib resistance than specified
- Fault in the module measuring circuit
How to fix it
- Establish whether the seat has recently been removed, refitted or the carpet cleaned
- Power down the restraint system safely and observe the discharge time
- Unbolt or slide the seat for access and inspect the whole loom run for a trapped or flattened section
- Open the under-seat connector, check for moisture and confirm the lock and shorting bar are working as designed
- Measure the circuit with the pretensioner unplugged to see whether the low reading follows the harness or the unit
- Repair the crushed loom section with approved restraint repair parts and reroute it clear of the rail
- Replace the pretensioner assembly if the short is internal, then clear and verify
