What does it mean?
B1367 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: PBPT Circuit Resistance Too High .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on and the passenger pretensioner switched off
- Belt still works mechanically, so the driver notices nothing except the warning lamp
- Fault often follows rear passengers pushing the seat back or cargo being loaded on the seat rails
- Frequently intermittent, showing up as a history code
- No effect on engine or transmission behaviour
Likely causes
- Connector under the passenger seat left unlatched after seat, carpet or occupant sensor work
- Corrosion in the passenger under-seat connector, which sits low and collects damp from wet footwells
- Broken conductor in the section of loom that bends each time the passenger seat is slid
- Open igniter inside the passenger pretensioner
- Belt assembly replaced with a unit that does not match the restraint module
- Loose or bent pin at the module-side connector
- Airbag control module output fault
How to fix it
- Note whether the code is stored as current or history and check for other passenger side restraint codes
- Power the system down safely, disconnect the battery and wait the specified time before touching restraint connectors
- Move the seat for access and unlatch the under-seat connector; inspect for corrosion, damp and a lock that was never pushed home
- Clean and reseat the connector, clear the code and flex the loom to see whether the fault returns
- Check the flexing loom section for internal breaks by moving the seat slowly through its full travel while monitoring
- Use an approved load simulator at the pretensioner to split harness from unit
- Replace the pretensioner or belt assembly when the open is proven to be inside it
