What does it mean?
B1369 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: PBPT Circuit Short To Ground .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on with the passenger pretensioner deactivated
- Fault can be intermittent and set over bumps or when a passenger shifts in the seat
- Other passenger side restraint codes may be stored at the same time
- Code returns straight away after clearing when the short is solid
- No driveability change
Likely causes
- Squib wire rubbed bare against the seat frame, a rail bolt or a floor bracket
- Wet carpet or a leaking door or screen seal letting water into the passenger under-seat connector
- Loom trapped between the seat pan and the floor when the seat was refitted
- Terminal backed out of the connector and touching the metal seat structure
- Pretensioner unit shorted internally to its own housing
- Cargo or a child seat base pressing the loom onto a sharp edge
- Airbag control module internal fault
How to fix it
- Read all restraint codes and note whether the fault is current or intermittent
- Power the system down safely and wait the reserve power discharge time
- Unplug both ends of the pretensioner circuit and measure each squib wire to body ground; a low reading confirms the harness is shorted
- If the harness measures clean with both ends free, the short is inside the pretensioner or the control module
- Inspect the loom where it passes the seat frame and floor brackets for bare copper and crush damage
- Find and cure the source of any footwell water before repairing the wiring
- Repair with approved restraint repair parts, reroute clear of metal edges, then clear and retest
