What does it mean?
B1385 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: PSAB Circuit Short To Power .
Symptoms
- SRS lamp on and the passenger side airbag disabled
- The fault may appear only when the passenger seat heater or the power seat is operated
- Often traceable to recent seat cover, upholstery or under-seat accessory work
- The code will not stay cleared while the short is present
- No effect on engine performance or driveability
Likely causes
- Squib wire chafed onto a powered circuit under the passenger seat, such as a heater or seat motor feed
- Aftermarket seat heater pad, seat cover harness or under-seat accessory wiring run through the restraint loom
- Insulation melted between the restraint line and a power wire where the loom is crushed on the seat rail
- Moisture in the connector bridging a squib pin to a live contact
- Terminal pushed back in a shared connector body and touching a powered pin
- Internal fault in the passenger side airbag module
- Shorted output stage in the airbag control module
How to fix it
- Note whether the fault follows the use of a specific seat circuit; that points straight at the source of the voltage
- Power down safely, disconnect the battery and wait the specified reserve power discharge time
- Remove any aftermarket wiring routed with the restraint loom under the passenger seat
- With both ends of the squib circuit unplugged, switch the ignition on and check both wires for voltage while operating the seat functions
- Repair the chafed loom section and reroute it away from the seat rail and any powered wiring
- Verify the airbag module itself with an approved load simulator
- Replace the control module only after the harness and the airbag module have both tested good
