What does it mean?
B1527 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Seat Belt Switch (LH) Circuit Open (For Common Terminal) .
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp on
- Left belt reminder completely dead: no chime and no lamp change whatever the buckle does
- Scan data for that belt shows no valid state at all
- Several left side belt switch codes stored together, since the shared leg affects both contacts
- Fault often appears right after seat removal or interior work
Likely causes
- Under-seat connector unplugged or not fully latched, which breaks the shared return for both switch contacts
- Broken wire in the common leg where the harness flexes with seat travel
- Corroded or spread terminal in the common pin, giving high resistance instead of a solid connection
- Buckle pigtail damaged at its exit from the buckle body
- Internal break inside the buckle where both contacts share their return path
- Wiring cut or badly repaired during earlier seat, carpet or trim work
How to fix it
- Note whether more than one left belt switch code is stored, which points straight at the shared common leg
- Unplug and reseat the under-seat connector and check the common terminal for spreading and corrosion
- Measure continuity of the common wire from the buckle connector to the module connector
- Flex the harness through the full seat travel while watching continuity for an intermittent break
- Inspect the pigtail where it leaves the buckle body for breaks under the insulation
- Repair the open with proper crimped terminals rather than a twisted splice
- Replace the buckle assembly if the break is internal, then clear the code and confirm the belt state now changes
