What does it mean?
B1994 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Left Power Sliding Door Position Sensor 1 Circuit Performance .
Symptoms
- Left power sliding door stops partway, reverses or refuses to move under power
- Door has to be operated by hand while powered operation is locked out
- Repeated beeping while the door moves
- Door closes but does not latch fully, or slams
- Fault appears more often on a slope or when the vehicle is loaded
Likely causes
- Dirty, damaged or misaligned position sensor in the door drive unit
- Worn drive cable, pulley or clutch letting the door move without matching sensor counts
- Rollers, tracks or hinges binding, dry or full of debris so the door drags
- Intermittent connection in the flexible harness that runs to the door
- Corroded connector at the drive unit or in the door jamb
- Door travel never calibrated after a battery disconnect, module change or track repair
- Weak battery voltage during operation, which distorts sensor timing
How to fix it
- Check battery condition and charging voltage before any further testing
- Watch position sensor 1 counts in live data while moving the door slowly by hand and look for dropouts
- Compare the counts of both door position sensors, they should track each other smoothly
- Clean and inspect the tracks and rollers, then move the door by hand to feel for binding
- Check the flexible harness where it bends, flexing it while watching the live value for glitches
- Inspect the drive unit sensor and its connector for dirt, corrosion and loose mounting
- Carry out the door calibration procedure, and replace the sensor or drive unit only if the signal is still wrong afterwards
