What does it mean?
B2205 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Vehicle Speed Circuit .
Symptoms
- No satellite position at all, the map does not follow the vehicle
- Error message on the screen at start up
- The unit restarts by itself or freezes
- Satellite lock takes a very long time, or never happens
- Clock and time zone functions unreliable
- Other audio and media functions may still work normally
Likely causes
- Receiver section inside the navigation or telematics unit failed internally
- Corrupted software or a failed update leaving the receiver unable to initialise
- Low or unstable supply voltage, especially while cranking or with a weak battery
- Poor ground or a high resistance connection at the unit
- Overheating because the unit is blocked in behind the dash or its ventilation path is covered
- Water damage from a leak into the dash or console
- Severe antenna fault that the unit logs as a receiver failure
- Unit fitted from another vehicle and never configured for this one
How to fix it
- Confirm the manufacturer definition for this vehicle
- Check the antenna connection and the coax first, an antenna fault can present as a receiver error
- Measure supply voltage and ground quality at the unit, and test the battery and charging system
- Open the satellite diagnostic screen and note the satellite count and signal levels
- Check that the unit is properly mounted and that nothing blocks its ventilation
- Look for water ingress from a leaking windscreen, sunroof drain or console spill
- Update the software or carry out the reset procedure specified for the unit
- Replace and configure the unit if it still fails its self test with a good antenna and a stable supply, then verify position accuracy on a road test
