Mirror Driver Memory Position Error

Jump to the fix

Severity

Medium

Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Read the body and door module codes and check whether both mirror axes or only one report a fault.

What does it mean?

B2310 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Rear Washer Switch Input Circuit Low .

Symptoms

  • The driver mirror does not move when a memory button or the key fob memory function is used.
  • The mirror moves to a slightly different place each time, or stops part way.
  • New memory positions cannot be stored for that mirror.
  • Automatic tilt down in reverse or mirror folding no longer works while manual adjustment still does.
  • Seat and column memory recall may fail at the same time when they share the module.

Likely causes

  • Mirror position feedback signal outside its learned range because the mirror glass was pushed by hand, a car wash or an impact.
  • Broken conductor in the door harness where it passes through the rubber boot between the door and the body.
  • Corroded or loose mirror connector, often after water has entered the mirror housing or the door.
  • Memory positions never programmed for the driver mirror, or lost after a battery disconnection or module replacement.
  • Mirror actuator binding, stripped drive gear or a motor that stalls before the stored position.
  • Voltage drop during recall because of a weak battery or a poor door module ground.
  • Memory or door module internal fault.

How to fix it

  1. Read the body and door module codes and check whether both mirror axes or only one report a fault.
  2. Watch the mirror position feedback values live while moving the mirror slowly with the manual switch in both axes.
  3. Look for a value that drops out, sticks or jumps, which identifies the failing potentiometer or the broken wire.
  4. Flex the door harness inside the rubber boot during the measurement, since this is where conductors usually break.
  5. Confirm the module supply and ground stay stable while the mirror motors run, and test the battery and charging system.
  6. Repair the harness or connector, dry and reseal the mirror if water has entered it, then reprogram the memory positions.
  7. Replace the mirror actuator or the memory module only after the wiring and feedback signals have been proven.
