What does it mean?
B2334 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Column Tilt Feedback Potentiometer Circuit Short to Battery .
Symptoms
- The column tilts to one end of its travel and will not come back.
- Memory recall sets the wrong tilt angle or does not move the column at all.
- The column may tilt on its own when the door is opened or the ignition is switched off.
- Easy entry and exit and column memory storing stop working.
- The tilt position value in live data sits at full scale regardless of the column position.
Likely causes
- Feedback wire chafed inside the column loom against the tilt motor feed or another permanently live conductor.
- Liquid spilled into the column bridging the signal pin to a supply pin inside the connector.
- Bent, spread or pushed back terminal in the tilt actuator or module connector touching a powered contact.
- Internal short inside the tilt potentiometer between the wiper track and the motor supply.
- Harness trapped or pinched when the column shrouds, air bag or steering wheel were refitted.
- Non factory wiring routed through the lower column area near the tilt circuits.
- Column control module input stage failure.
How to fix it
- Read the codes and check the tilt position value; a value pinned at maximum indicates the line is being held at supply voltage.
- Disconnect the tilt potentiometer and measure the feedback wire from the harness side with the ignition on.
- Voltage still present with the potentiometer unplugged places the short in the wiring, while voltage that vanishes places it inside the actuator.
- Inspect the column loom where it flexes with tilt and telescope movement for chafing, crushing and melted insulation.
- Look for spilled liquid, corrosion and damaged terminals in the column connectors, and dry them before retesting.
- Repair the wiring with sealed crimped joints and reroute the loom clear of the moving column mechanism.
- Replace the tilt potentiometer or actuator assembly when the internal short is confirmed, then relearn the column memory positions.
