What does it mean?
B2338 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Horn Control Circuit Open .
Symptoms
- A mirror keeps driving in one direction whenever the ignition is on, without anyone touching the switch.
- The mirror motor buzzes or strains at its end stop and can eventually be damaged.
- Mirror memory recall and reverse tilt are locked out while the switch input is considered stuck.
- Other functions in the same switch pack behave abnormally.
- Battery drain because the door module stays awake with an input permanently active.
Likely causes
- Liquid spilled into the switch assembly bridging a switch contact to the switch supply.
- Switch contacts worn or welded closed after long use, keeping the input active.
- Chafed wiring inside the door panel where a switch wire touches a permanently live conductor.
- Water and corrosion inside the switch or door module connector bridging pins.
- Aftermarket wiring for lamps, speakers or alarm sensors spliced into the door switch loom.
- Bent or pushed back terminal in the connector contacting a powered pin.
- Door module input stage failure.
How to fix it
- Read the door module codes and watch the switch inputs in live data with nobody touching the switch to see which one is stuck active.
- Unplug the mirror switch assembly and check whether the input goes inactive; if it does, the switch is at fault.
- If the input stays active with the switch unplugged, measure that wire from the harness side for battery voltage to confirm a short to power.
- Inspect the switch for spilled liquid, residue, burnt contacts and corroded pins, and check the door connector for water.
- Trace the door harness for chafing, crushed sections and non factory splices, particularly around the armrest and the door boot.
- Repair the wiring with sealed crimped joints, replace damaged terminals and remove any accessory wiring tapped into the switch circuits.
- Fit a new switch assembly or door module once the wiring is proven, then check every mirror function and reprogram the memory positions.
