Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Record the freeze frame and check for related injector and misfire codes

  • PPowertrain
  • 1Manufacturer-specific
  • 2Powertrain (Other)
  • 95Sequence number

What does it mean?

P1295 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Injector Circuit High to Low Current Transition Time Bank 1 .

Symptoms

  • MIL (check engine lamp) on
  • Misfire, rough idle and noticeable vibration
  • Rich exhaust smell or smoke, since the injector stays open longer than commanded
  • Higher fuel consumption and sooty spark plugs or nozzle tips
  • Hesitation and hard starting

Likely causes

  • Partially shorted turns inside a Bank 1 injector solenoid
  • Chafed harness leaking current to ground as the injector switches off
  • Faulty flyback or quench circuit in the injector driver module
  • Corroded, loose or wet injector connector terminals
  • Poor module ground or low system voltage distorting the switching waveform
  • Aftermarket wiring, added devices or a poor repair splice in the injector circuit

How to fix it

  1. Record the freeze frame and check for related injector and misfire codes
  2. Inspect the Bank 1 injector harness for chafe points, poor splices and moisture in the connectors
  3. Measure each injector's resistance and also check for continuity between the winding and the injector body
  4. Voltage drop test the injector ground path and verify the driver module ground is clean and tight
  5. Capture an injector current waveform and compare the turn-off slope between cylinders where a scope is available
  6. Replace the injector with abnormal switching behaviour, or repair the harness fault
  7. Re-check the driver module only after the injectors, wiring and grounds are proven
