What does it mean?
P1495 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Leak Detection Pump Solenoid Circuit Malfunction .
Symptoms
- MIL on
- EVAP monitor stays incomplete, blocking emissions readiness
- No pump operation is heard during the leak test
- Possible fuel vapour smell if the system cannot seal itself
- The engine runs and drives normally in most cases
Likely causes
- Leak detection pump solenoid coil open or shorted internally
- Open or shorted control wire between the module and the solenoid
- Corroded underbody connector at the pump
- Blown fuse in the pump supply circuit
- Harness chafed or crushed near the fuel tank straps
- Poor ground connection for the solenoid
- Module output driver failure
How to fix it
- Command the solenoid with a scan tool and listen for the pump to operate
- Check the supply fuse and confirm voltage at the pump connector
- Measure solenoid coil resistance and compare it with specification
- Test the control wire for continuity to the module and for shorts to ground and to power
- Inspect the connector for corrosion, moisture and pushed-back terminals
- Repair the wiring, or replace the leak detection pump assembly
- Clear codes and run a full EVAP monitor cycle to confirm
