What does it mean?
P1756 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Transmission Shift Solenoid 'B' Circuit Malfunction .
Symptoms
- MIL (check engine lamp) on with a transmission warning
- One shift slips or is very slow to complete, with engine RPM flaring
- Harsh recovery shift as the module raises pressure to compensate
- Limited gear range or limp mode after repeated failures
- Shift feel gets worse as the transmission warms up
Likely causes
- Solenoid B mechanically stuck or slow to respond because of varnish and debris
- Clogged solenoid screen restricting flow through the solenoid
- High resistance or intermittent connection in the solenoid drive circuit
- Corroded case connector, or an internal harness soaked with ATF
- Sticking shift valve in a worn valve body bore
- Low line pressure or degraded fluid slowing the hydraulic response
- Module driver stage failure, considered after all other checks
How to fix it
- Check fluid level, colour and smell and look for debris on the pan magnet
- Log commanded gear against calculated ratio on live data during a full road test
- Command shift solenoid B on and off with a scan tool and watch how quickly the ratio changes
- Measure the solenoid resistance and compare it with the other solenoids in the same pack
- Check line pressure with a gauge in the gear where the fault appears
- Drop the pan, remove the solenoid and check its screen and bore for varnish and debris
- Replace the solenoid or valve body, complete a fluid and filter service, then road test
