What does it mean?

B1270 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Left Rear Heated Seat Hi Indicator Control Circuit High .

Symptoms

  • The high setting indicator on the left rear seat heater switch never lights
  • The high heat setting may not be selectable
  • The seat heater may drop back to a lower setting or shut off by itself
  • Other indicators on the same panel can still work normally
  • The fault may appear only when the seat is occupied or adjusted

Likely causes

  • Open circuit in the high setting indicator control wire for the left rear seat heater
  • Indicator lamp inside the switch burnt out, leaving the circuit open
  • Switch connector unplugged or a terminal pushed out under the rear seat
  • Indicator wire shorted to battery voltage from a neighbouring circuit in the same loom
  • Corroded terminals after moisture soaked into the rear carpet
  • Failed indicator driver output inside the seat heater control module

How to fix it

  1. Cycle the left rear seat heater through low and high and note which indicators respond
  2. Reseat and inspect the switch and rear seat harness connectors for corrosion and backed-out pins
  3. Measure continuity of the high indicator control wire from the switch back to the module
  4. Check the wire for unexpected battery voltage, which indicates a short to power
  5. Repair the open or shorted wiring, or replace the switch panel if the indicator itself is open
  6. Clear the code and confirm indicator and heating operation on the high setting
