What does it mean?

B1273 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Right Rear Heated Seat Hi Indicator Control Circuit Low .

Symptoms

  • The high setting indicator on the right rear seat heater switch stays lit or never lights
  • The right rear seat may not heat on the high setting
  • Other indicators on the same panel behave normally
  • Left rear seat heating is usually unaffected
  • The code reappears soon after it is cleared

Likely causes

  • High indicator control wire for the right rear seat heater shorted to ground
  • Failed indicator lamp or driver inside the right rear switch assembly
  • Wet or corroded connector under the right rear seat cushion
  • Harness crushed by the seat frame, a seat rail, or cargo in the footwell
  • Wiring damaged during rear seat removal or child seat installation
  • Fault in the module output that drives the rear seat heater indicators

How to fix it

  1. Operate the right rear seat heater on each setting and observe the indicators
  2. Unplug the switch connector and see whether the code changes, which isolates the switch assembly
  3. With the module connector released, measure the indicator control wire for continuity to ground
  4. Inspect the harness and connector under the right rear seat for moisture, corrosion, and crushing
  5. Repair the shorted wire, or replace the switch panel if its indicator driver has failed
  6. Clear the code and verify that the indicator lights and the seat actually warms up
