What does it mean?
B1275 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Headlight OFF Position Circuit Malfunction .
Symptoms
- Headlights stay on with the switch in the OFF position, or cannot be switched off
- The lights that come on do not match the position selected on the switch
- The automatic headlamp function behaves unpredictably
- The battery drains overnight because the lamps remain powered
- The cluster light indicator does not match the switch position
Likely causes
- Worn, burnt, or dirty OFF position contacts inside the combination light switch
- Open or shorted wiring between the light switch and the body control module
- Corroded or loose connector at the steering column switch assembly
- Liquid spilled into the steering column reaching the switch contacts
- Wiring damaged during steering column, clockspring, or cluster work
- Failed switch input circuit inside the body control module
How to fix it
- Operate the light switch through every position and note which circuits actually respond
- Read the switch position status in live data while turning the switch, looking for a position that never registers
- Unplug the combination switch connector and check the switch contacts for continuity in each position with a meter
- Inspect the connector for corrosion, spread terminals, and signs of liquid intrusion
- Test the switch wiring to the body control module for opens and for shorts to ground or voltage
- Replace the combination light switch if its contacts are faulty, then verify every lighting function and that the lamps switch off correctly
