What does it mean?

B1274 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Right Rear Heated Seat Hi Indicator Control Circuit High .

Symptoms

  • The right rear high heat indicator never illuminates
  • The high setting cannot be selected or the heater reverts to a lower level
  • Left rear seat heater indicators may work normally
  • The fault can be intermittent and triggered by seat movement or rough roads
  • Seat heating may otherwise feel normal on the low setting

Likely causes

  • Open in the high indicator control wire between the module and the right rear seat heater switch
  • Burnt out indicator lamp inside the right rear switch assembly
  • Connector unplugged or a terminal backed out under the right rear seat
  • Indicator wire shorted to battery voltage from an adjacent circuit in the same loom
  • Corroded terminals after moisture reached the rear seat harness
  • Module indicator output failure

How to fix it

  1. Test the right rear seat heater on both settings and note whether the high indicator lights
  2. Check that the switch and seat harness connectors are fully seated and free of corrosion
  3. Measure continuity of the indicator control wire from the switch to the module connector
  4. Check for battery voltage on the control wire while the indicator is commanded off
  5. Repair the open or shorted wire, or replace the switch panel if the indicator element is open
  6. Clear the code and confirm that the indicator and the heating element both operate on high
