What does it mean?
B1445 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Curtain air bag module (RH) (squib ignition drive circuit) .
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp on after every start with the right curtain inhibited
- Curtain deployment prevented in a genuine side impact or rollover
- Fault recorded as current and reappearing on the next ignition cycle after clearing
- Sometimes intermittent, showing up only after wet weather or a wash
- All other vehicle systems behave normally
Likely causes
- Intermittent or high resistance contact in the restraint module connector serving the curtain output
- Terminal fretting after repeated connector removal during interior or windscreen work
- Partly severed conductor in the firing pair running through the tunnel and up the A pillar
- Corrosion inside the module connector following water ingress at the bulkhead or windscreen
- Internal failure of the output driver in the restraint control module
- Non specified curtain airbag whose initiator load the driver cannot verify
- Poor module ground or a supply that drops during the self test
How to fix it
- Switch off, disconnect the battery and wait the specified discharge time before touching any restraint connector
- Confirm battery condition and charging voltage before suspecting the control module
- Unplug the restraint module connectors and inspect for water marks, green terminals, fretting and locks that never engaged
- Verify the module is tightly bolted to the body so its ground path is solid
- Trace the firing pair from the module to the A pillar connector, checking for crush damage, chafe and previous splices
- Fit the approved simulator in place of the curtain airbag and retest to see whether the drive circuit fault stays with the module
- Replace the restraint control module only after everything else has been proven, code it to the vehicle, clear the memory and verify the lamp goes out
