What does it mean?
B1450 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Curtain Air Bag Module (LH) (Squib) System (Short Circuit between Squib Circuit Terminals) .
Symptoms
- Airbag/SRS warning lamp on continuously
- Left curtain airbag disabled, and often the side airbag or pretensioner on the same branch as well
- Code sets again within seconds of being cleared
- Fault frequently appears right after interior trim, headliner or windscreen work
- No effect on engine running or drivability, so the lamp is the only warning
Likely causes
- Crushed or pinched squib harness behind the A, B or C pillar trim, usually after trim, headliner or glass work
- Connector at the curtain module damaged, wet or fitted with bent terminals
- Moisture and corrosion inside the pillar connector bridging the two pins
- Internal short in the curtain airbag inflator itself
- Shorting bar in the connector left engaged or damaged, keeping the two pins linked
- Aftermarket resistor or bypass plug installed in place of the module
- Failed squib driver inside the airbag control unit
How to fix it
- Switch the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait the specified discharge time before disturbing any yellow connector
- Read the SRS codes and note whether the fault is current, historic or intermittent
- Unplug the curtain module connector at the pillar and inspect both halves for moisture, corrosion, deformed pins and a damaged shorting bar
- Never measure a live squib with an ordinary multimeter; use the approved SRS load tool or substitute box in place of the module
- If the code clears with the load tool fitted, the fault is in the curtain module; if it stays, the fault is in the harness or the control unit
- Follow the harness behind the pillar trim and along the headliner edge and look for a clip, screw or trim fastener crushing it
- Repair or replace the damaged harness section, or replace the curtain airbag module, then clear the codes and confirm the lamp goes out after a full ignition cycle
