What does it mean?
B1455 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: SIS (Side Impact Sensor) Rear-Passenger Circuit Short to Battery .
Symptoms
- Airbag/SRS warning lamp on permanently
- Side and curtain airbag protection on the passenger side is inhibited
- A fuse feeding lamps or another rear circuit may blow when the fault is a hard short
- Fault typically shows up after accessory fitting or rear body repair
- Code reappears every time the ignition is switched on
Likely causes
- Sensor wire worn through against a live circuit sharing the same loom, such as a lamp, lock or window feed
- Sensor line spliced or tapped into a powered wire during a previous repair
- Water or corrosion in a shared connector bridging the sensor pin to a live pin
- Aftermarket wiring for audio, alarm or towing equipment run through the rear SRS loom
- Incorrect sensor or connector fitted after accident repair
- Input stage of the airbag control unit failed and holding the line high
How to fix it
- Scan the SRS system and note this code plus any related sensor codes from the same loom
- De-energise the system correctly: ignition off, battery disconnected, prescribed wait time observed
- Disconnect the sensor, restore battery power and measure for voltage on the sensor circuit in the harness; any reading confirms a short to power
- Check whether the voltage is permanent or ignition-switched to narrow down which circuit is feeding it
- Strip the rear sill and quarter trim and inspect for chafe against a live wire, melted insulation and non-factory splices or taps
- Remove added wiring from the SRS loom, repair the damaged section and secure it away from powered circuits
- If the harness proves clean, measure again at the airbag control unit before replacing the module
- Clear the codes, run several ignition cycles and a short road test, and confirm the lamp stays off
