What does it mean?

B1532 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Seat belt switch (RH) circuit (ground side) shorted (for Normal/Close terminal) .

Symptoms

  • Airbag warning lamp on
  • Right belt reminder locked in the unfastened state, so the chime never stops
  • Belt status in scan data unchanged when the buckle is latched
  • Code returns instantly after clearing while the short remains
  • Belt pretensioner staging for the right seat disabled

Likely causes

  • Switch wire rubbed through against the seat frame or a rail where the loom moves with the seat
  • Loom crushed under a seat mounting bolt during refitting
  • Terminal pushed out of the under-seat connector and resting on bare metal
  • Corrosion in the connector after a wet carpet, a leaking seal or a spilled drink
  • Conductive residue inside the buckle bridging the contact to the switch body
  • Loom taped or clipped directly to a sharp bracket edge in a previous repair

How to fix it

  1. Latch and release the belt while watching live data to confirm the state never changes
  2. Unplug the buckle and measure the harness side to ground with the connector separated
  3. Trace the loom along the rails and the seat pan looking for worn, flattened or crushed sections
  4. Inspect the connector for corrosion and for a terminal lying against the seat structure
  5. Remove floor mats and stored items that press the loom onto metal, then recheck
  6. Repair the grounded wire with proper terminals and secure it away from moving metal
  7. Replace the right buckle assembly if the short is inside the switch, then clear and verify
