What does it mean?
B1533 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Seat Belt Switch (RH) Circuit (Power Supply Side) Shorted (For Normal/Close Terminal) .
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp on
- Right belt reminder stuck in one state regardless of the buckle
- Belt status in scan data pinned high and unresponsive
- A seat circuit fuse blowing, or a powered seat function that has stopped working
- Hard fault that comes straight back after clearing
Likely causes
- Switch wire chafed against a live seat circuit such as a seat heater, seat motor or memory feed
- Aftermarket seat heater or accessory tapped into the right seat loom
- Terminal backed out of the under-seat connector and contacting a supply pin
- Water and corrosion in the connector bridging a powered pin into the switch line
- Insulation damaged where the loom crosses the seat frame after seat or trim work
- Internal short in the buckle between the resting contact and a powered path
How to fix it
- Confirm with live data that the belt state never changes when the buckle is operated
- Unplug the buckle and check the harness side for voltage with the ignition on
- Inspect the right seat loom for aftermarket splices and disconnect add-on wiring for a retest
- Check the connector for moisture, corrosion and terminals touching adjacent live pins
- Follow the loom for melted or abraded insulation against powered leads
- Repair the harness with proper terminals and route it away from supply circuits
- Replace the right buckle assembly if the short is internal, then clear the code and confirm normal operation
