What does it mean?
B1534 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Seat belt switch (RH) circuit open (for Normal/Open terminal) .
Symptoms
- Airbag warning lamp on
- Right belt reminder keeps chiming even with the belt properly fastened
- Belt status in scan data never changes to fastened
- Fault comes and goes as the seat is moved or the belt is latched firmly
- Right seat pretensioner deployment logic disabled
Likely causes
- Buckle contacts worn, dirty or contaminated, so the latch contact no longer closes
- Under-seat connector unplugged or not fully latched after seat work
- Broken wire inside the insulation where the loom flexes with seat adjustment
- Corroded terminal giving high resistance instead of a solid closed circuit
- Debris or a foreign object in the buckle mouth holding the mechanism short of full engagement
- Open in the harness between the seat connector and the airbag control module
- Buckle pigtail broken where it exits the buckle body
How to fix it
- Latch the belt firmly and listen for a solid click while watching the state in live data
- Inspect the buckle mouth for coins, food debris, dried liquid or a bypass insert left in the latch
- Unplug the buckle and measure switch resistance latched and released against specification
- Reseat the under-seat connector and inspect terminals for corrosion and spreading
- Check continuity from the buckle connector to the module connector, flexing the loom through the seat travel
- Repair the open circuit with correct crimped terminals and secure the loom clear of the rails
- Replace the right buckle assembly if the latch contact does not close reliably, then clear and retest
