What does it mean?

B1735 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Driver Seat Front Up Switch Circuit Malfunction .

Symptoms

  • Front of the seat cushion will not lift, or rises erratically
  • Other seat directions still function normally
  • Seat sometimes moves briefly and then stops as if the switch had been released
  • Memory recall does not complete because the front height axis never reaches its target
  • Warning message or seat adjustment lockout on some vehicles

Likely causes

  • Worn, dirty or burnt contact inside the switch pack on the front height rocker
  • Liquid spill drying inside the switch and leaving conductive residue
  • Broken or chafed front-up signal wire where the loom follows the seat rail
  • Loose, corroded or backed-out terminal in the under-seat connector
  • Front height motor drawing excessive current and pulling the control circuit out of range
  • Seat or memory module input stage failure

How to fix it

  1. Read the codes and monitor the front-up switch input live while operating the rocker
  2. Remove the switch pack and inspect the contacts, cleaning any residue found
  3. Try a known good switch pack if one is available to prove or clear the switch
  4. Measure continuity and resistance of the front-up wire from the switch connector to the module
  5. Wiggle the loom along the rail and under the cushion while watching for the signal to drop out
  6. Check the current draw of the front height motor; a stiff or seized motor can disturb the circuit
  7. Repair the wiring or replace switch, motor or seat module according to the results
