What does it mean?
B1910 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Outside Mirror - Left Horizontal Motor or Sensor Error .
Symptoms
- Left mirror will not move left or right, although up and down may still work
- Mirror buzzes or hums but the glass does not move
- Memory recall positions the mirror incorrectly or fails to complete
- Automatic tilt down when reversing does not work on that side
- Mirror adjustment works intermittently, often changing as the door is opened and closed
Likely causes
- Horizontal mirror motor seized, worn or drawing excessive current
- Broken gears or a cracked glass carrier inside the mirror, often after the mirror was folded or knocked by hand
- Worn position potentiometer in the mirror actuator on vehicles with memory mirrors
- Chafed or broken wiring inside the driver door jamb boot, which flexes with every door opening
- Corroded mirror connector inside the door after water ran down behind the trim panel
- Ice or an obstruction jamming the mirror glass
- Door module or memory module output driver failure
How to fix it
- Operate the mirror in all directions and note exactly which axis fails, comparing it with the opposite mirror
- Listen at the mirror while commanding movement: a motor that hums without moving points to a mechanical jam or broken gears
- Read the module codes and watch the mirror position values in live data while adjusting, looking for a signal that does not change or jumps
- Check for ice, dirt or a trim clip obstructing the glass before dismantling anything
- Measure voltage at the mirror connector while the switch is operated to establish whether the module is delivering the command
- Repair the door harness or the connector, then retest before replacing the mirror
- Replace the door or memory module last, only when wiring and actuator have been verified
