What does it mean?

B1912 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Outside Mirror - Right horizontal Motor or Sensor .

Symptoms

  • Right mirror will not swing left or right while vertical adjustment still works
  • Motor buzzes without moving the glass
  • Memory recall does not restore the correct horizontal position
  • Adjustment stops working after the passenger door has been opened and closed several times
  • The mirror may move in one direction only

Likely causes

  • Horizontal motor seized or worn inside the right mirror actuator
  • Broken gear teeth or a cracked glass carrier after the mirror was folded or struck
  • Worn position potentiometer on memory equipped mirrors
  • Chafed or broken wiring in the passenger door jamb boot
  • Corroded mirror connector after water entered the door
  • Ice, dirt or a trim clip preventing the glass from moving
  • Passenger door module or memory module output failure

How to fix it

  1. Operate both mirrors in all directions and note exactly which movement fails
  2. Clear any ice or obstruction and check the glass moves freely by hand before dismantling
  3. Read the codes and observe mirror position live data while making adjustments
  4. Measure the command voltage at the mirror connector while the switch is used, to separate a module fault from an actuator fault
  5. Flex the passenger door jamb harness while monitoring to expose broken conductors
  6. Repair the wiring first, then replace the mirror actuator or glass carrier if the motor or sensor is proven faulty
  7. Replace the controlling module only as the final step
