What does it mean?

B1913 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Outside Mirror - Right vertical Motor or Sensor .

Symptoms

  • Right mirror does not tilt up or down while horizontal movement is normal
  • Buzzing from the mirror with no glass movement
  • Memory recall sets the wrong vertical angle or aborts
  • Automatic reverse tilt does not function on the passenger side
  • Fault comes and goes with door movement, pointing to the jamb harness

Likely causes

  • Vertical motor failed or seized inside the right mirror actuator
  • Stripped gears or a broken mounting inside the mirror after the glass was forced by hand
  • Worn vertical potentiometer on memory mirror systems
  • Broken wire in the passenger door jamb boot or in the door loom
  • Water and corrosion in the mirror connector or the door module connector
  • Glass jammed by ice, a lodged trim clip or a badly fitted aftermarket mirror glass
  • Door or memory module driver failure on that output

How to fix it

  1. Check both axes of both mirrors and document exactly which movement is missing
  2. Remove ice or obstructions and verify the glass can move freely before removing trim
  3. Watch the mirror position data on the scan tool while adjusting, to see whether the vertical channel responds
  4. Measure voltage at the mirror connector during a command in both directions
  5. Flex the passenger door jamb harness while measuring to reveal an intermittent break
  6. Repair the wiring, then fit a new mirror actuator or glass carrier if the motor or sensor is proven faulty
  7. Replace the controlling module only after wiring and actuator have both been verified
