Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Read the stored codes and check the commanded versus actual flap state in live data

What does it mean?

P1095 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Tumble Generated Valve Signal 1 Circuit Malfunction (short) .

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on with the flap system disabled in its default position
  • Rough idle and vibration, especially in the first minutes after a cold start
  • Hesitation and a soft response when accelerating gently
  • Noticeably worse fuel economy
  • Slower warm-up and higher emissions, which can cause an emissions test failure
  • Occasional misfire codes during warm-up

Likely causes

  • Signal wire shorted to ground through damaged insulation along the intake manifold
  • Water or corrosion in the connector bridging the signal to an adjacent pin
  • Internally shorted actuator or sensor pulling the line down
  • Harness pinched under the manifold or against a mounting bracket during earlier service work
  • Terminal pushed into the wrong cavity after a repair, connecting the signal to the wrong circuit
  • Module output stage failure as the final possibility

How to fix it

  1. Read the stored codes and check the commanded versus actual flap state in live data
  2. Disconnect the tumble valve actuator and measure the signal wire against ground with the ignition on
  3. With the actuator unplugged, check resistance from the signal wire to ground; a low value proves the harness is shorted
  4. Measure the actuator or sensor resistance across its terminals and compare it with the other side of the system
  5. Inspect the loom where it passes under and around the intake manifold for pinch and chafe damage
  6. Open the connector, look for moisture and corrosion, then dry, clean and reseal it
  7. Repair the shorted harness section or replace the failed actuator, then confirm the flaps move fully through their travel
