What does it mean?
P1360 is a Powertrain (engine, transmission, fuel system) fault code. It indicates: Cylinder 2 Ignition Circuit Short to Ground .
Symptoms
- Cylinder 2 misfires heavily or drops out entirely, shaking the engine at idle
- Check engine light on, flashing when the misfire is severe
- Noticeable power loss and hesitation when accelerating
- Fuel odour from the exhaust and elevated fuel consumption
- Rough idle that may worsen after driving through water or washing the engine bay
Likely causes
- Chafed control wire grounding against the cylinder head, valve cover or a mounting bracket
- Coil for cylinder 2 with an internal short between the primary winding and the coil body
- Oil or water in the coil well shorting the connector pins to ground
- Melted harness section close to the exhaust system
- Terminal displaced in the connector and touching a grounded surface
- Damaged harness clip letting the loom rest on a sharp metal edge
- Module coil driver damaged by the continuous ground fault
How to fix it
- With the coil unplugged and the ignition off, measure resistance from the control wire to ground to confirm the short
- Inspect the coil well, boot and connector for oil and moisture, and dry the area completely
- Test the cylinder 2 coil between its control terminal and the coil body to detect an internal short
- Follow the harness from the coil to the module, checking clips, brackets and any section near heat
- Repair the damaged insulation properly and re-secure the loom clear of sharp edges and hot parts
- Verify with a scope or test light that the control line switches normally after the repair
- Replace the coil if it is internally shorted, and only assess the module after the circuit is confirmed clean
