What does it mean?
B1415 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: HFM Right Audio Output Circuit Low .
Symptoms
- Caller audio missing or extremely quiet from the right side of the cabin during hands free calls
- Call sound is heard only from the left, giving an obviously one sided conversation
- Buzzing or muffled speech instead of clear audio on that channel
- The system may drop hands free operation and hand the call back to the phone
- Fault logged while music playback from the head unit still sounds correct
Likely causes
- Short to ground in the wire between the hands free module and the radio or amplifier right channel input
- Damp or corroded module connector, common where the unit is mounted low behind interior trim
- Harness chafed against a console bracket, seat rail or floor pan edge
- Terminal that has backed out of the connector body and is touching the shell
- Failing input stage in the audio unit dragging the channel down
- Internal output driver fault inside the hands free module
- Accessory wiring spliced into the right audio link during a previous installation
How to fix it
- Read the stored fault and check the module's live data to see how it currently reports the right channel
- Inspect the hands free module connector and its mounting area for water ingress, corrosion or a lock that is not engaged
- With the module unplugged, measure resistance from the right audio output pin to ground; a good circuit is not connected to ground
- Check the wire's continuity and insulation through to the audio unit while flexing the harness under the console and carpet
- Unplug the receiving audio unit to determine whether the low reading comes from the source, the wiring or the load
- Repair the shorted section, dry the connector and eliminate the water leak if corrosion is present
- Apply any available module software update, and replace the hands free module only once the harness and audio unit have both tested good
